Finding myself a bit stressed by the news cycle, I looked around for a fairly simple quilt that I could make using the many 3.5 inch strips that I have cut over the last few years. I settled on a Bonnie Hunter pattern called Bricks and Stepping-Stones. It used a lot of 3.5 inch strips. As I worked through the pattern, I kept finding more stacks of strips. I started with a fairly random assortment of colors. Then I found the lime green strips. Then the yellow strips appeared. And finally, I found a small bundle of red strips.

The finished top has 90 blocks and 900 pieces of fabric. It measures 60″ x 81″. No borders planned at this moment.

The black and cream checkerboard was actually harder to find than the bricks. I had to cut strips from my stash fabrics to put these together. I find I am still hoarding some of my favorite fabrics even though I’ve been trying to convince myself that it’s the lucky fabrics that get used. And my black stash is missing in action. I have lots, I just don’t know where it is right now.

I have enough parts left over that I will be able to piece them into the back. I expect that I will put a double row between 2 widths of yardage. And then, someday, it will get quilted.
