I’m catching up on the quilts tops I made this spring. I was working 3 days a week and thus had 2 extra days off. I’m going to be honest here — I didn’t like working part-time. My work responsibilities were only reduced a little bit and so I worked really hard to keep up in less time. It didn’t go well. But I did set boundaries on my days off — and my goal was to sew a lot on at least one of those days. I chose simple patterns that could be quickly constructed — that had lots of simple sewing in them. Thus the 3 yard quilts were very appealing as I only had to chose 3 yards of fabric that looked good together and then I could sew up a top pretty quickly.
Button Box is from the booklet “Quilts in a Jiffy: 3-yard Quilts.” The construction of the 4 patches is very clever and I did tilt them to the left rather than to the right. The brown blocks feature cute chameleons. The three borders took almost as much time to add as piecing the entire quilt, but I like the look, so worth the time. It looks like I finished this top on April 3. The feet belong to Barry. This top is still waiting to be quilted.
