In January, I sewed a few quilt tops. In February, March, and April, I finished a bunch of quilts! So some photos of my finishes are below. There are more — I seem to have missed taking photos of some of them.

Works in progress, January 2023
I’ve been making quilt tops this month. I started to do some of the sewing room declutter work alongs, but after I emptied the trash, I was so excited by how much space that gave me that I sewed up some quilt tops.
Bricks and Stepping-stones quilt
Finding myself a bit stressed by the news cycle, I looked around for a fairly simple quilt that I could make using the many 3.5 inch strips that I have cut over the last few years. I settled on a Bonnie Hunter pattern called Bricks and Stepping-Stones. It used a lot of 3.5 inch strips.… Continue reading Bricks and Stepping-stones quilt
Snakie-snakey
So, it’s finally spring here in the Finger Lakes. Our yard is greening up, dandelions are blooming, bugs are emerging. You get the idea. And our friend, Snakie-snakey is here and doing its thing — mostly sunning up against the house. We are hopeful that it is also eating slugs and bugs and all those… Continue reading Snakie-snakey
Update on works in progress
I have a pile of quilt tops, some more recent than others that haven’t been profiled here yet. So this post is going to be a few photos and a tiny bit of text about each one. There are more, but I will save those for another day.
Quick 3 yard quilt finished
The Sew Yeah quilting family hosted a challenge: use 3 yards of fabric purchased at Sew Yeah Quilting and make a quilt. So I did. I used 3 yards of woven fabrics that I purchased during one of the destash events. As fabric goes, it is very lightweight; I was concerned about how it would… Continue reading Quick 3 yard quilt finished
Scrappy Bargello finished!
I’ve been working through some of my unfinished objects (fondly known as UFOs) and came across a quilt top that I finished years ago. Time to quilt it up. So I did. This is a very simple quilt to make thanks to Bonnie Hunter’s excellent instructions. I quilted it very simply using wavy lines roughly… Continue reading Scrappy Bargello finished!
Ally has gone to the Rainbow Bridge
Our younger kitty, Ally, passed away at home the night of January 31. Barry found her the morning of February 1. We both looked for her the night before and didn’t find her. She had renal failure and the previous 2 weeks had seen some major changes in her eating and elimination processes, so we… Continue reading Ally has gone to the Rainbow Bridge
Phoenix Quilt, 2021
This quilt was done as part of a Quilt-A-Long (QAL) this fall. It is still a top. It is a GEQuiltDesigns quilt pattern. Most of the bright fabrics were from a bundle that I bought at a Sew Yeah online destash. The burgundy fabric came from Quilters Corner in Ithaca. This isn’t my usual palette,… Continue reading Phoenix Quilt, 2021
Maybe time for some knitting. . . .
In addition to my quilting, I’ve been doing some knitting this fall. I’ve been following Arne and Carlos on YouTube and decided to try some of their patterns. Their Christmas project this year was 24 Nordic Jumpers to use as an Advent calendar. I bought the patterns. I bought the lovely Norwegian yarn and started… Continue reading Maybe time for some knitting. . . .
